Descripci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Espa\u00f1ol:<\/strong> Con una magnitud de 11.5 y un tama\u00f1o de tan solo 1′, M76 deber\u00eda ser el objeto Messier m\u00e1s dificil de observar (a\u00fan m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil que M74). Sin embargo, a m\u00ed me resulta todo lo contrario: es f\u00e1cil de identificar porque, pese a su peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o y poca magnitud, sorpresivamente resulta relativamente brillante (evidentemente, tiene una alta brillantez superficial\u2014”high surface brightness”\u2014). Adem\u00e1s, su forma irregular se detecta hasta con el ocular de menor aumento (30x). Debido a su luminosidad, se puede usar magnificaciones altas sin que se deteriore la apariencia o la visibilidad de esta nebulosa planetaria. Lo m\u00e1s caracter\u00edstico de este objeto es su forma de “man\u00ed” y sus dos \u00e1reas de mayor brillo: la m\u00e1s tenue de las dos (la parte sur, o arriba, seg\u00fan el dibujo) es algo redonda, mientras que la parte norte es alargada. Est\u00e1 orientada en direcci\u00f3n noroeste-sureste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

English:<\/strong> With a magnitude of 11.5 and a size of just 1′, M76 should be the most difficult Messier object to observe (even more difficult than M74). However, for me it\u2019s quite the opposite: it is easy to identify because, despite its small size and faint magnitude, it is \u2014surprisingly\u2014 relatively bright (evidently it has a high surface brightness). In addition, its irregular shape is detectable even at low magnification (30x). Due to its luminosity, it is easy to use higher power without affecting the appearance or visibility of this planetary nebula. The most characteristic feature of this object is its peanut-like shape and its two brightest areas: the faintest of the two (the southern part, or above, according to the sketch) is somewhat round, while the northern part is elongated. It is oriented northwest-southeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e9chain el 5 de septiembre de 1780, y que \u00e9l reporta: \u00abEsta nebulosa no contiene estrellas; es peque\u00f1a y tenue\u00bb. El [p. 259] 21 de octubre siguiente M. Messier la busc\u00f3 con su anteojo acrom\u00e1tico, y le pareci\u00f3 que solo estaba compuesta de peque\u00f1as muy estrellas, que conten\u00edan nebulosidad, y que la menor luz empleada para aclarar los hilos del micr\u00f3metro las hac\u00edan desaparecer: la posici\u00f3n determinada para la estrella \u03c6 de Andr\u00f3meda, de cuarta magnitud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
