Descripci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Espa\u00f1ol:<\/strong> M101 es una galaxia de considerable tama\u00f1o. Este hecho hace que resulte tenue cuando se la observa a trav\u00e9s de alg\u00fan instrumento. No por eso deja de mostrar, con facilidad, much\u00edsimos detalles en telescopios peque\u00f1os. En efecto, la mejor imagen de M101 se obtiene con el ocular de menor aumento (30x). La galaxia cubre una extensi\u00f3n mayor que la que se aprecia en el dibujo, pero esa otra regi\u00f3n (la de los brazos espirales) solo es ligeramente m\u00e1s brillante que el fondo del espacio. Considerando que las condiciones del cielo, al momento de hacer la observaci\u00f3n, no eran muy apropiadas, es sorprendente la cantidad de detalles visibles. Entre estos se pueden ver varias zonas de HII \u2014el material del cual se componen los espirales\u2014. Dos de dichas zonas de HII se localizan dentro de la zona central de la galaxia (a cada lado del n\u00facleo, que es el punto difuso brillante al centro). Adem\u00e1s, hay tres zonas adicionales fuera del cuerpo principal, que sugieren la curvatura de los brazos espirales: NGC 5462 (a la izquierda, arriba, seg\u00fan el dibujo), NGC 5461 (tambi\u00e9n, a la izquierda, debajo del primero) y NGC 5447 (al lado derecho, y un poco hacia abajo del centro). El punto estelar debajo de la regi\u00f3n central (seg\u00fan el dibujo, el m\u00e1s pr\u00f3ximo) responde a una cuarta zona HII, catalogada como NGC 5455. Sobre el centro de la galaxia se ve una estrella que no debe confundirse con una supernova; solo es una estrella de la V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea que se ve superpuesta a M101.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

English:<\/strong> M101 is a galaxy of considerable size. This fact makes it faint when viewed through many instruments. Nevertheless, it shows many details in small telescopes with relative ease. In fact, it is best to observe M101 with low magnifications; the best view comes at 30x. The galaxy covers an extension greater than that seen in the sketch, but that zone (corresponding to the area of the spiral arms) is slightly brighter than the background space. Considering that the conditions of the sky, at the time of doing this observation, were not very good, the amount of details visible is surprising. Among these are several HII regions \u2014the material that makes up the spiral arms. Two of these HII regions are located within the central zone of the galaxy, at each side of the nucleus (which is the bright diffuse point at the center). Moreover, there are three additional areas outside the main body, which suggest the curvature outlined by the spiral arms: NGC 5462 (on the left, above, according to the sketch), NGC 5461 (also, on the left, below the first one) and NGC 5447 (to the right side, and a little lower from the center). The star-like point below the central region (according to the sketch, the closest one) responds to a fourth HII region, cataloged as NGC 5455. Near the galaxy\u2019s center there is a tiny star that should not be confused with a supernova; It’s just a Milky Way star superimposed on M101.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
