Y con raz\u00f3n, pues hasta se puede ver a simple vista, como la estrella central del asterismo que forma la espada de Ori\u00f3n. De igual forma, la vista en binoculares es atractiva, pues se a\u00f1aden otras estrellas brillantes al \u00e1rea visible, adelantando la imagen esplendorosa que resulta de la contemplaci\u00f3n de este objeto por un telescopio. En este tipo de instrumento, a cualquier magnificaci\u00f3n, es f\u00e1cilmente apreciable su caracter\u00edstico color gris-verdoso (en fotograf\u00edas, se traduce a rojo), adem\u00e1s de las m\u00faltiples variaciones en brillo sobre su extensa superficie, que denota mayores concentraciones de polvo y gas, o regiones de intensa actividad de formaci\u00f3n de estrellas.&nbsp;A poca magnificaci\u00f3n, se puede captar a M42 dentro de un mismo campo de visi\u00f3n, present\u00e1ndose como un abanico, cuyo mango queda marcado por M43, una nebulosidad en forma de &#8220;coma&#8221; debajo (al norte) de la regi\u00f3n principal. Tambi\u00e9n se pueden separar las cuatro componentes principales del Trapecio, un conjunto m\u00faltiple de estrellas en el coraz\u00f3n de la nebulosa, conocido como Theta &lt;\u03b8&gt; Orionis. Usando mayor magnificaci\u00f3n, se comienzan a distinguir varias estrellas. En momentos oportunos, se pueden contemplar las variaciones en brillo que se producen en las componentes principales, resultado de los eclipses que ocurren&nbsp;cuando las estrellas peque\u00f1as pasan frente a las mayores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>English:<\/strong> Probably, M42 is the deep-sky object most observed by amateur astronomers. And rightly so, because you can even see it with the naked eye, as the central \u201cstar\u201d of the asterism forming Orion&#8217;s sword. Similarly, the view in binoculars is attractive because other bright stars join&nbsp;the visible area, as a preview of&nbsp;the splendid picture&nbsp;that will come to view&nbsp;through a telescope. In this type of instrument, at any magnification, its characteristic gray-greenish glow is readily apparent&nbsp;(in photographs, that translates to red), in addition to the many variations in brightness over its large surface area, which shows higher concentrations of dust and gas, or regions of intense star formating activity. A low magnification, you can see&nbsp;M42 filling the field of view, resembling a handheld fan&nbsp;whose&nbsp;handle is marked by M43, a small comma-shaped cloud&nbsp;below (north) of the main M42 region. You can also separate the four main components of the Trapezium, a multiple star system in the heart of the nebula, known as Theta &lt;\u03b8&gt; Orionis. Using higher magnification, the observer can&nbsp;distinguish several stars. He&nbsp;aqu\u00ed la traducci\u00f3n de lo que \u00e9l report\u00f3 en su memoria. \u00abPero hay varias&nbsp;estrellas en la nebulosa de Ori\u00f3n, que no se pueden ver sino con un telescopio, pero que no son suficientes para causar la luz de la nebulosa; fue por estas estrellas que me di cuenta que la distancia de las nebulosas era m\u00e1s grande que aquella de las estrellas fijas, y es lo que me lleva a la b\u00fasqueda&nbsp;de otras. Distingu\u00ed perfectamente que cada una&nbsp;estaba a unas&nbsp;distancias inmensas m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las estrellas fijas, cerca de ellas, y que se pueden ver sin el socorro de un telescopio; que m\u00e1s es, que parece que&nbsp;ellas est\u00e1n tambi\u00e9n alejadas de las estrellas fijas, que algunas de estas estrellas&nbsp;lo est\u00e1n&nbsp;de la Tierra.\u00bb M. le Gentil examin\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n esta nebulosa con unos anteojos ordinarios de 8, de 15 y de 18 pies de largo; as\u00ed como con un telescopio gregoriano de 6 pies, que pertenec\u00eda a M. Pingr\u00e9. El ha publicado el resultado de sus observaciones en una Memoria que se encuentra impresa en los Vol\u00famenes de la Academia, <em>a\u00f1o 1759, p\u00e1gina 453<\/em>. El ha juntado los dibujos que ha hecho entonces, as\u00ed como los de Huygens y de Picard; estos dibujos diferentes entre ellos, har\u00edan suponer que esta nebulosa est\u00e1 sujeta a algunas variaciones. He&nbsp;aqu\u00ed lo que report\u00e9 de esta nebulosa en el diario de &nbsp;mis observaciones. El 4 de marzo de 1769, el cielo estando perfectamente sereno, Ori\u00f3n venido de haber pasado el meridiano, dirig\u00ed a la nebulosa de esta constelaci\u00f3n un telescopio gregoriano de 30 pulgadas de largo focal, que aumentaba ciento cuatro veces; se ve\u00eda perfectamente bien, y defin\u00ed la extensi\u00f3n de la nebulosidad, que compar\u00e9 enseguida con los dibujos que M. le Gentil&nbsp;hab\u00eda entregado, yo encontr\u00e9 algunas diferencias. Esta nebulosa contiene once estrellas; tiene cuatro hacia el centro, de diferentes magnitudes y muy&nbsp;cerca unas de otras; eran de una brillantez extraordinaria: he aqu\u00ed la posici\u00f3n de la m\u00e1s brillante de estas cuatro estrellas, que Flamsteed, en su cat\u00e1logo, designa con la letra griega&nbsp;\u03b8, de cuarta magnitud,&nbsp;80\u00b0&nbsp;59&#8242; 40&#8243; de ascensi\u00f3n recta, y&nbsp;5\u00b0&nbsp;34&#8242; 6&#8243; de declinaci\u00f3n meridional: esta posici\u00f3n ha sido deducida de aquella que ha dado Flamsteed en su cat\u00e1logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Comentarios de Messier en 1784:<\/strong> Posici\u00f3n de la bella nebulosa de la espada de Ori\u00f3n, por la estrella \u03b8 que est\u00e1 contenida junto con otras tres estrellas m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as que no se pueden ver sino con buenos instrumentos. M. Messier entr\u00f3 en grandes detalles sobre esta gran nebulosa; ha proporcionado un dibujo, hecho con la m\u00e1s grande atenci\u00f3n, que se puede ver en las <em>Memorias de la Academia, a\u00f1o 1771, l\u00e1mina VIII<\/em>. Fue Huyghens quien la descubri\u00f3 en 1656: ha sido observada desde entonces por un gran n\u00famero de astr\u00f3nomos.
